THE Apprentice viewers could not believe what they were seeing when the business hopefuls made a major blunder in front of the investors.

Tonight's task on The Apprentice saw the remaining candidates create their own video games.

Part of the task involved creating and directing a promotional video to help them sell their product.

One of the groups led by Brittany Carter and assisted by Francesca Kennedy Wallbank doing the marketing, decided to make a game around the concept of saving the environment.

The concept of the game saw a player called 'Sam the Scientist' head to the Arctic trying to stop from ice caps from melting.

But the game was doomed from the outset with Francesca directing the Akshay and Sophie in the promotional video.

The two women ended up clashing over what he needs to be doing on camera.

While Sophie wanted Akshay to reference a rabbit that would be in the game, Francesca repeatedly cut her off and said it was not needed for the promo clip.

Described as an 'arcade game' by Lord Alan Sugar, the game included cute penguins but once they put their idea in front of investors, the blunders were quickly pointed out.

It started with the bold title 'Artic Saviour' across a massive cinema screen where the team was presenting at the Samsung building in London's King's Cross.

"How do you spell Arctic?" asked one of the investors, while another questioned, "how many penguins are there in the arctic."

The shocked candidates realised their very embarrassing blunder and tried to smooth things over with the investors.

But their excuses did not help them and they managed to attract zero investment.

This came as no surprise to fans watching at home who were in "tears of laughter" at the gaffe.

BBC presenter Dan Walker led the charge of disbelief.

He tweeted: "I just can’t get beyond ARTIC v ARCTIC. They can’t possibly win."

Another viewer added: "Shout out to this graphic designer loving every second of not being allowed to correct their spelling of Arctic."

And a third wrote: "who ever gets fired should have to do 2 weeks Penguin spotting in the artic.."

Once in the boardroom, Lord Sugar grilled the team about how they could get it so wrong and who was to blame.

He also did a shoutout to his more humble roots asking the candidates, "do you know what artic is in East London slang?"

Lord Sugar told them it meant an "articulated lorry" and ultimately they had "produced a documentary in the format of an arcade game."

He called back Brittany, Francesca and Sophie into the boardroom with each clambering about why the should face the chopping block.

Sophie was put in the firing line for not speaking up enough, while she accused Francesca of the horrifying misspelling of arctic.

But eventually, Sophie was saved with Lord Sugar firing Francesca as she was head of marketing and "responsible" for the blunder.

The shocks of the episode did not end there, as the episode ended on Lord Sugar turning up to surprise the candidates at the mansion they were staying at.

He told them the following morning they would be heading to North Wales to create a tourism campaign in the area in hopes of capturing the boom in 'staycations' amid the coronavirus pandemic.
