Coronation Street spoilers: Steve McDonald attacks Amy Barlow’s criminal boyfriend after catching him in the house
WITH Amy Barlow's 18th birthday fast approaching, Steve McDonald is determined to celebrate his daughter's big day.
But the celebrations take a turn when the character played by Simon Gregson attacks her criminal boyfriend after catching him red-handed in Coronation Street.
In scenes due to air next week on ITV, Amy (Elle Mulvaney) is all set to blow out her candles on February 9, 2022.
And with adulthood looming on the horizon for the soon-to-be 18-year-old, her parents Steve and Tracy (Kate Ford) set up the Bistro for a surprise party in her honour, with the help of Amy's half-sister Emma (Alexandra Mardell) and Carla (Alison King).
Steve and Tracy run home to No.1, looking for a candle for Amy's cake.

But after finding the chain on the front door, the pair spot another person inside through the letterbox.
Determined to catch up with the intruder, fearing there may have been a burglary, Steve races round the corner and, after intercepting the intruder's escape, tackles them to the ground in Rosamund Street.
But when the intruder's hood drops down, Tracy and Steve are shocked to see a familiar face.
Jacob Hay (Jack James Ryan) was the mystery intruder at No.1.
For several days, and prior to Jacob being caught slipping out of her home, Amy has been confiding in Asha and Summer that her new relationship has been going well.
While Asha advised her to be cautious, reminding her of her disastrous association with Corey Brent, Amy's mother Tracy tried to do some digging, convinced her daughter was dating a much older man.
Tracy went as far as to rope Emma in to grill her, until the latter backed out.
After catching him, Steve sits on Jacob until the police arrive, although the young man insists that he stole nothing.

But when she learns of the incident and her birthday party is cancelled, Amy requests for some peace, sending Emma and her parents to the Rovers.
Soon, Amy calls the police to clear Jacob's name and, in a gesture confirming their connection, both characters share a kiss.
