WINTERWATCH'S Megan McCubbin felt the wrath of Irish viewers tonight after mispronouncing a series of locations.
The zoologist was discussing tagged red kites and looking at how one bird in particular criss-crossed Ireland and Northern Ireland.
Using a piece of string to show the kite's route on a map of the two countries, she began by pronouncing Antrim as A-trim, then Waterford as Water-Ford and finally Donegal as Don-Eagle.
It was immediately picked up by viewers, with one fuming on Twitter: "Watching #Winterwatch, my home county of Donegal pronounced as 'Dun Eagle'. A disgrace."
A second wrote: "Ah yes, those well known Irish places Water Ford and Dun Eagle."
A third posted: "Where the hell is Dun Eagle?"
A fourth said: "Putting the 'eagle' into Donegal with that pronunciation! The red kites would approve! #winterwatch."
To her credit, Megan apologised for her mispronunciation in her next segment and said: "I am forever working on it."

Many other viewers cut her slack too, with some describing her as brilliant.
Megan asked viewers to send in their sightings of the red kites to help understand the population so they can be better supported.
Just three decades ago the kites were on the red list of threatened birds with just 45 or so recorded in mid Wales.
Fast forward to the present day and they are thriving with several successful reintroduction efforts helping put them on the green list.
