SINGERS Lemar and Jamelia are poised to star in an upcoming Sky Kids drama mini-series based on Dame Jacqueline Wilson’s book Little Darlings.

The noughties superstars teamed up at the Brit Awards in 2005 and now, 17 years later, they’re back together for a four-part fairy-tale comedy.

The show follows the two daughters of rock legend Danny Kilman, portrayed by Lemar, 43.

One is Destiny (Janae Vito), who lives on a neglected housing estate in Birmingham with her mum Kate, played by Jamelia, 41, and the other is Sunset (Diaana Babnicova), who Danny shares with a different woman.

The siblings meet for the first time and get along like a house on fire, bonding over music, but the same can’t be said for a reunited Kate and Danny.

Lemar told the Mirror that he’s thrilled to be involved with the show, explaining: “Sky Kids and the team at Kindle have been amazing and getting to work alongside great crew, cast members, and friends has been a real breath of fresh air.

“I love what this show represents… something positive with a bit of humour for the whole family!”

While Jamelia said: “The opportunity to work with such brilliant up-and-coming talent, both on and off screen, has been a dream – not to mention reuniting with Lemar to perform again!

“I’m so thrilled to be a part of this funny, vibrant and important show.”

Little Darlings also stars a host of other familiar faces, including Stan & Ollie’s Rufus Jones as Danny’s agent and Benidorm’s Nathan Bryon as Kate’s hairdressing business partner.

Lucy Murphy, director of kids content at Sky UK and Ireland, praised the musical talents of Lemar and Jamelia, which will feature on the programme, as well as the diverse and talented cast.

Adapted for the screen from Jacqueline Wilson’s novel of the same name by Nathan Bryon and Jonny Wright, the programme hits Sky Kids and NOW on February 11.
