He was born on December 17, 1956, and raised in London.

He appeared in many films including the cult classic Quadrophenia in 1979.

Patrick got his big break in 1983 when he was cast in Only Fools And Horses, the role he is best known for.

The couple have a daughter together called Josie.

Who did Patrick Murray play in Only Fools And Horses?

Patrick’s breakout role in Only Fools And Horses was as dim-witted wide boy Mickey Pearce.

He starred alongside David Jason as Del Boy, and Nicholas Lyndhurst as Rodney on the hit BBC sitcom.

While he didn’t join the cast until three seasons in, the trilby loving character became a regular and fan favourite from then on.

Patrick starred as Mickey for 20 years from 1983 to 2003.

He has previously said he thinks a reboot of the beloved show would be ruined by the BBC out of fears of complaints.

Does Patrick Murray have cancer?

On January 26, 2022, Patrick revealed he had a cancerous tumour in his lung.

He said he wanted to make his illness public to endorse a government ad urging people to check out unexplained aches and pains.

His revelation came four months after cancer killed his co-star John Challis — wheeler-dealer Boycie on the BBC One sitcom.

Patrick announced in May 2022, that his lung cancer was cured with the help of surgery and chemo.

He told The Sun: “I don’t drink now so I’m not going down the pub to celebrate — a salad and a sparkling water is more my thing.

“I’ve had so many messages from my old Only Fools pals, like David Jason, when I revealed me diagnoses. I was really touched by that.”

After his operation in October 2021, he underwent chemotherapy treatment.

Doctors also found a secondary tumour in his liver.

Patrick said: “My oncologist told me the lung cancer was cured and the tumour in my liver was shrinking.

“It’s not over yet but, as you can imagine, I am over the moon with this latest news.”

He thanked the NHS and the “brilliant doctors and nurses” throughout his treatment.

In January 2023, Patrick revealed that half of his liver had been removed.

Sadly on April 24, 2023, Patrick revealed his cancer had returned.

He told how the disease has now spread to his pelvis and legs.

Patrick said in a statement: “Despite all the wonderful efforts by the medical and nursing teams at Medway, Guys, and Kings College hospitals, the lung cancer has returned.

“I thought I had a painful groin strain a couple of months ago, unfortunately that turned out to be the cancer getting into my pelvis and leg bones. It has also entered my lymphatic system.

“What about the good news? I had radiology treatment last week and my oncologist is fairly confident this will stop the leg pain, and I will be up and about again.

“Another positive is my consultant. He is confident that the chemo will keep things in check for months and even years.”
