Peter Dinklage blasts Disney over ‘backward’ remake of Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs
ACTOR Peter Dinklage has blasted Disney over its “backward” remake of Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs.
The star, 52, who has a form of dwarfism, accused the studio of double standards by striving for racial diversity while continuing other stereotypes.
He said: “I was a little taken aback by the fact they were very proud to cast a Latina actress as Snow White — but you’re still telling the story of the Seven Dwarfs.
“You’re progressive in one way but you’re still making that f*****g backward story of seven dwarfs living in the cave.
“Have I done nothing to advance the cause from my soapbox? I guess I’m not loud enough.”
US-born Rachel Zegler, 20, who has a Colombian mum and Polish dad, has been cast as Snow White in Disney’s upcoming live action adaptation of its classic 1937 animated film.
But Game of Thrones star Peter told comic Marc Maron’s WTF? podcast: “All love and respect to the actress and the people who thought they were doing the right thing but I’m just like, ‘What are you doing?’”
