Ex-Towie star Joey Essex left ‘horrified’ after raiders ransack his £3million home

JOEY Essex was “horrified and shaken” after raiders ransacked his £3million pad while he was out with friends.

The TV reality star, 31, called police yesterday after returning home in the early hours to find an upstairs window open.

Police confirmed they were investigating a break-in at a four-bed property in Chigwell, Essex.

A source said: “Joey realised what had happened as soon as he got home with James Benwith, a friend of his.

“Thieves had thoroughly ransacked the place. Joey was horrified and very shaken. It’s made him feel unsafe in the home.

“The only thing to be grateful for is he was out when it happened.”

The ex-Towie favourite paid £1.6million for the pad in 2014 and in 2019 was on Cribs, an MTV series involving stars’ home tours.

Joey is not the first Towie star to be burgled, following Megan McKenna, 29, in 2017 and Nicole Bass, 30, in 2018.

He was rumoured last year to have sold the house, which has a pool, but has remained there.

Police said they were investigating a suspected forced entry at the house and added: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish whether anything was taken.”
