SHERIDAN Smith fans can rejoice because Channel 5 just dropped the teaser trailer for her upcoming psychological thriller series The Teacher.
Sheridan is now one of the UK’s most in-demand actresses after rising to fame in hit British sitcoms like Gavin & Stacey, The Royle Family, and Benidorm.
Now the 40-year-old plays Jenna Garvey, a popular high-school teacher with a chaotic private life, in a new four-part Channel 5 drama.
The Teacher sees Jenna accused of bedding one of her pupils, a young lad called Kyle, after a boozy night out at a local nightclub.
But with no recollection of the evening in question thanks to a drunken blackout, Jenna has only one hope to restore her good reputation: unearthing the truth about a traumatic event in her past.
Sheridan stars alongside Samuel Bottomley (Ackley Bridge) as the student at the centre of the scandal that threatens to ruin Jenna’s life.
The stellar cast also features Sharon Rooney of My Mad Fat Diary fame, former Emmerdale actor Kelvin Fletcher, and Black Mirror’s Cecelia Noble as staff at Jenna’s school.
The teaser trailer sees Jenna questioned by her curious pupils about what she gets up to once the school bell rings.

“What I do with my spare time”, she tells them, “is none of your business”.
Cut to Jenna throwing back shots in the club before waking up, fuzzy-headed, to a “report of inappropriate behaviour” that soon snowballs into police charges.
The headmaster gives the gobsmacked educator her marching orders and she quickly finds herself hounded by the press and branded a “paedo” by locals.
And what’s Kyle got to say about it all? Not very much if the trailer is anything to go by, so perhaps the lad isn't the innocent victim he claims to be.
Can Jenna get to the root of what happened? To find out, hit up Channel 5 at 9pm even night between Monday 31st January and Thursday 4th February.
