Rachel Stevens OUT of Dancing On Ice this Sunday after fracturing her wrist
RACHEL Stevens will not be on Dancing On Ice this week after fracturing her wrist.
The 43-year-old was due to skate alongside Brendyn Hatfield but has been forced to pull out after falling on the ice during training and sustaining the injury.
A Dancing On Ice rep said: "Due to an injury sustained in training and on the expert advice from the Dancing on Ice medical professionals, Rachel Stevens will not skate in this Sunday's show. We look forward to her returning to the show next weekend."
Rachel, who has two daughters with her husband Alex Bourne, will skate for the first time in the competition in Week 3 on Sunday 30th January.
It comes after Bez is forced to miss next weeks show after testing positive for Covid.
The Happy Monday's star is the first celebrity to wear a helmet on the ice after taking a tumble during rehearsals.
Host Phillip Schofield admitted the show can be very dangerous.
He said: “You have a rink that is full of essentially blades and we know how dangerous they can be and how deeply they can cut and how sharp they are. I’ve just watched a video of Bez on his second day fall over backwards so hard that his helmet flew off.
“Dancing On Ice is really dangerous.
"They really all risk everything for it. We’ve seen in the past that people do get hurt and of course you want to avoid that at all cost. I think we will be wrapping Bez up in bubble wrap that’s for sure.”
Over the years there has been a number of serious injuries on the show, with a few celebrities sustaining lasting issues.
Prior to taking part, former S Club 7 opened up about her fears for the show as she described herself as a "perfectionist" and "naturally competitive".
She admitted she is terrified of one thing - the infamous Headbanger.
The risky move sees skaters swinging their partner's around by their feet, with their heads skimming dangerous close to the ice.
Rachel admitted: "The headbanger fills me with fear.
"I’m fine with heights but it's one of those things, until you actually do it you don’t know. I have no idea how I'm going to be and how I’m going to feel.
"All I know is, I want to go for it and have fun. That's the thing. I’ve always been quite a perfectionist but with this I really want to go for it.
"It's about having a laugh and having fun learning a new skill along the way."
