The Inbetweeners’ James Buckely reveals why ‘there’s not enough money in the world’ to make him play Jay again
JAMES Buckley has disappointed die-hard fans of The Inbetweeners after revealing "there's not enough money in the world" to make him play Jay Cartwright again.
Those who remember the awkward years of adolescence were able to relive those painful days when watching The Inbetweeners - and its characters will forever be remembered.
Most memorable of all was, undoubtedly, Jay Cartwright - a sex-obsessed teenager known for his potty mouth and extravagant lies.
On Friday morning, James - the actor who portrayed the lovable loudmouth - was a guest on The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X.
During the chat, Chris asked him whether he would consider reprising his role as Jay on the hit Channel 4 comedy.
The host asked: “If the people who wrote The Inbetweeners said ‘we’ve got a new script’ - it’s basically what everyone’s up to now - do you want to see it? You’d say yes?”
Despite recalling his time on the series as “the best job in the world”, James adamantly replied: "No."
An open-mouthed Moyles questioned: “You don’t even want to read it?”
Putting the conversation to bed, Buckley explained: “Not because I don't think I would have an amazing time doing it, because I know I would.
"It was the best job in the world, but it might - you know, as I'm getting older - it's looking like it might be the only thing that I do professionally that is universally loved.
“There's not enough money in the world for me to spoil that.”
All three seasons of The Inbetweeners are available to watch on All 4.
