Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway lead tributes as Good Morning Britain ‘legend’ quits the team
BEN Shephard and Kate Garraway have led the tributes to Good Morning Britain "legend" floor manager Tim as he quits the team.
The TV hosts gushed over Tim Carr, who has worked with ITV Daytime for 25 years across a number of shows - as he waved goodbye following his final shift.
Ben, 47, and Kate, 54, thanked Tim for his hard work with the broadcaster over the past 40 years as they announced he was stepping back.
Dedicating a segment to the behind-the-scenes star, Ben told viewers: "Just a quick goodbye to our floor manager Tim who is leaving the show today."
"He has been with us for 40 years. We will miss you Tim," he continued, as his co-star chimed in: "Let's have a look at Tim, he's been with us for 40 years."
The cameras turned to show Tim standing behind the scenes, waving enthusiastically and he smiled from behind his plastic face shield.
Fans of the show took to Twitter to wish Tim the best - including a number of former ITV presenters who had worked alongside him on telly.
Davina McCall was one of the first to lead the tributes, asking Ben and Kate to "give him a cuddle" from her on his final day in the studio.
"Oh my god Tim is leaving?" she posted. "Floor manager extraordinaire. 40 years" Been in telly longer than me! Please give him a cuddle from me."
TV star Tim has rarely appeared on screen apart from a brief cameo in 2016 when he appeared in a promotional video for This Morning.
"My role is basically making sure the studio runs smoothly and efficiently for the live show," he explained of what being a floor manager meant.
“I’m in charge of making sure everybody knows where they are, where they’re meant to be and that they're at the right time.
“I make sure lighting and sound know where they’re meant to be and what they’re meant to be doing.”
Tim added: “Probably the most important thing is looking after the presenters, making sure they know where they are at the right time.”
It comes days after Kate Garraway was told to be quiet by behind-the-scenes Good Morning Britain bosses during a debate about the NHS.
Guests Kevin Maguire and Iain Dale discussed the army being drafted in to support NHS workers after the Omicron coronavirus variant left many staff sick and isolating.
Interrupting political commentator Kevin mid-flow, Kate laughed: "One person, just very quickly because everyone's telling me to be quiet, but that's nothing new."
