At 28, he owns his own digital marketing company called Sai Network and boasts of speaking seven languages.

But a deeper look into his business portfolio brings up a trail of failed enterprises.

The found his first strike came when his attempt at setting up a record label didn't go to plan.

As a student he created Vivid Records Ltd, the business was incorporated in November 2011 but was dissolved via compulsory strike off in July 2013, which usually takes place when directors fail to file in paperwork on time.

Next to fail was Silver Crescent Media Ltd, an advertising agency launched in April 2014 alongside Pareet Shah.

Accounts show in 2015 cash reserves went from £20,330 to £509 in seven months.

While when the company voluntarily dissolved in March 2016, the firm's assets fell from £1,603 to £509

Obviously determined to make a success as a businessman, in October 2014, the entrepreneur set up Aumetric Media Ltd, described as being involved in retail mail, order sales and advertising.

But his appointment ended in January 2016 and the firm applied to be struck off the official register of companies.

Filed accounts covering 2015 showed the firm had £566 in the bank and net liabilities of £2,154.

Joining forces with Shah once again, the pair also set up Nativelabs Ltd in July 2015 which was voluntarily dissolved in September 2016, although Thakrar had already stepped down as a director in January 2016.

When the firm posted accounts as a dormant company in June 2016, its balance sheet covering the 11 months to 31 May 2016 showed £4 in its bank account.

BUSINESS-MINDED?

In March 2017, he enjoyed a short directorship of another advertising agency called Roq Media Ltd but the firm applied to be struck off the register in July 2017.

Akshay is currently director of an advertising firm called AMT BD International Ltd.

A source told the Mail: "Akshay will be hoping Lord Sugar doesn't look too closely at his business back catalogue."

In response, Akshay told The Sun Online: “These companies were simply registered when I was younger.

"My company, Triple AMT Group Ltd, has now been trading for four years and continues to grow year on year with total current asset value worth six figures in the previous account record.”

Thakrar has referred to himself as a man who believes sleeping is a “waste of time” and whose first word as a newborn was "profit".

Being multilingual, he claims he is able to connect with everyone and anybody, and therefore can “sell anything, to anyone”.
