Susanna Reid overtakes Holly Willoughby as the best paid woman on TV after signing new £1.1m ITV deal

SUSANNA Reid is now the best paid woman on British television, thanks to a bumper new deal to stay on Good Morning Britain.

Her deal, thought to be worth around £1.1million a year, means she now earns more than This Morning host Holly Willoughby, said to be on £730,000 a year.

Susanna’s contract with ITV expired in November but she dug her heels in and refused to commit before finally putting pen to paper on the massive deal this week.

A source said: “Susanna’s previous arrangement actually came to an end a short while ago and negotiations have been ongoing, but she kept ITV sweating a bit.

“She knows she is a huge part of the show and is increasingly involved in the day-to-day decisions too, alongside her presenting role.

“Plus there is already uncertainty over who will co-anchor long term after Piers Morgan left last year, so she was definitely in a strong position.

“Bosses rate her highly and wanted to keep her, but she didn’t agree straight away.

“She’s certainly played a strong negotiating game and it has worked out for her.

“Internally it looks like she’s now the best paid female presenter on the network.”

Mum-of-three Susanna, 51, joined Good Morning Britain in 2014 as part of a major breakfast revamp by ITV.

She was joined by Piers Morgan a year later following his guest presenting stint.

The pair formed a popular and highly successful partnership that helped boost ratings consistently to catch up with long-time rival BBC Breakfast.

But Piers, 56, quit the show last year, leaving Susanna without a permanent co-star and keen to cement herself as the senior on-screen figure.

She has since been paired with long-standing presenters Ben Shephard, Kate Garraway and Ranvir Singh plus guest hosts including Richard Madeley and Adil Ray.

Other top earning stars on ITV include Amanda Holden and her Britain’s Got Talent co-star Alesha Dixon.

But the best paid faces overall are still understood to be Ant and Dec, whose golden handcuffs deal with the broadcaster is said to be worth £40million between them in a three-year deal.

It works out as £6.6million each to host ITV’s biggest entertainment shows Britain’s Got Talent, I’m A Celebrity . . . Get Me Out of Here! and Saturday Night Takeaway.

This week the duo also launch a brand new quiz show, Limitless Win.

A representative for ITV declined to comment on Susanna’s new contract.
