Death in Paradise’s Ralf Little hints at heartbreak for Neville in series 11 after telling Florence how he feels
DEATH in Paradise’s Ralf Little has hinted at heartbreak for his character Neville Parker in the upcoming eleventh series.
The eagerly anticipated new season returns next week with Ralf as Neville while Josephine Jobert is back on Saint Marie as DS Florence Cassell.
With the Christmas special ending with Florence admitting she heard Neville ask her on a date, fans are keen to find out if they will get together.
However, Neville may not be sticking around for too much longer as actor Ralf teased he will be dealing with "personal problems".
Speaking about where Neville is when the series returns, Ralf explained: “Well, of course, as I’m sure everyone will remember, they saw him right on the verge of telling Florence how he feels.
“The start of this series picks up right off the back of that and deals with the aftermath of how that conversation goes.
“The first few episodes deal with what that aftermath looks like, so Neville’s personal journey is very much taken up with that."
The actor added that, as the series continues, it's about him working out what his new life looks like.
He added: "There’s a lot of personal stuff for him to figure out in this series.
“It’s always nice to have a character that’s not just doing their job but is also dealing with their personal life too - there’s lots to get to grips with.”
It's been almost three years since Neville arrived in Saint Marie and Ralf is proud of how his character has evolved.
“I was involved at the very start with who he was going to be and what he was going to be like," he concluded.
"For a character to work coming into a series, they have to arrive struggling with something.
“Neville’s thing when he arrived was dealing with the fact that he loved the idea of being on the island, but the island didn’t like him.
“He was in battle with it all the time."
Death in Paradise returns on Friday, 7 January at 9pm on BBC One.
