Good Morning Britain will air on a Saturday for the first time EVER with Christmas special
GOOD Morning Britain will air on a Saturday for the first time EVER.
Hosts Susanna Reid, Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway plus a plethora of guests will kick start Christmas Day on ITV.
It comes after TV bosses were forced to cancel GMB next week amid Covid fears.
But fans will at least get an extra helping of the flagship show this weekend before its short hiatus, when the pre-recorded episode airs Saturday at 6am.
Ben opens the special festive show, saying: “Well hasn’t Santa delivered for me!
"I have the absolute pleasure of being the filling in this GMB Christmas sandwich… I have been put here, this isn’t my own doing!
"I’m just doing as I’m told, as I always do…”
Susanna replies: “We were told that you especially asked for us in your Christmas stocking this morning?”
And speaking about whether they have been naughty or nice this year, Ben admits: “Probably a mixture of both.”
Kate then claims: “I sense there’s a lot of naughtiness going around.”
The Sun has reached out to Santa for comment.
Telly chiefs made the call to cancel GMB next week amid mounting concerns about Covid among staff, who have agreed to gingerly soldier on until the end of this week.
But while the final pre-Christmas shows will go ahead, presenters have been asked to do their own make-up and nobody else will be allowed in the studio.
Shows scheduled for the mid-festive period will now be pulled entirely and replaced with another show, while the edition on Christmas Day has already been pre-recorded.
It is the first time the morning news show has been ditched from the schedules.
A spokeswoman confirmed: “There is a special GMB Christmas Day show which airs from 7-9am.
“GMB was due to be on air from Weds 29th - Fri 31st December 2021 but due to the pandemic and to protect our teams, we have decided to give them an extended break.
“GMB will not broadcast next week, but will be back on air on Tues 4th Jan 2022.”
