Miranda will return to TV after hit comedy spends six years off-air
SIX years ago she shut the door on her hugely popular BBC sitcom but now Miranda Hart has revealed she is thinking about opening it once again.
The series ran for a year on BBC2 in 2009 and was then put onto BBC1 for three years from 2012 and gained a legion of fans along the way.
And I’ve no doubt her devoted viewers will be delighted at Miranda’s U-turn.
When asked about a reboot, with her co-stars including Tom Ellis and Sally Phillips, Miranda said: “I think when you create characters like that, that you’ve lived with for a long time, they do become part of you.
“I do think of them from time to time, a bit like you would a friend that you haven’t seen for a while, ‘Oh, what would they be up to…’
“And so I’ve definitely had some thoughts of where they might be and what would happen with them all.
“The circumstances haven’t quite aligned. But it is something that I would say that I’m now not ruling out.
“Whereas a couple of years after it had finished, I completely ended it and that was that.”

Speaking on The Gaby Roslin Podcast, which airs on Monday, Miranda said her change of heart was spurred on by the show’s fans.
She added: “I think the love for them is still there.
“The audience has continued to grow because young audiences can watch it and… I just love sitcoms.
“I believe in the importance of laughter even more than when I started out in my comedy career so I’m definitely thinking about it.
“Hopefully, the circumstances will align one day.”

The comic, who paraded his flamboyant feathery suit in Birmingham, will have an impressive line-up for the Channel 4 mega-bash on Wednesday.
I can reveal that Joe will be joined by EastEnders hardman Danny Dyer – who “comes out of the closet” during the show.
Meanwhile, showbiz legend Joan Collins will be the evening’s Hollywood correspondent.
During the extravaganza, Joe will be overseeing yuletide joy and fun – with mayhem, mischief and drag.
Queen of clean Kim Woodburn is working the door, while Baga Chipz, Bimini Bon Boulash and Charity Shop Sue are also taking part.
Sounds as camp as, well, Christmas.
CLEESE IN RANT AT BBC QUIZ
HE’S never been afraid to speak his mind.
But John Cleese has really let rip at the BBC, lodging a formal complaint with the corporation over a reporter who grilled him.
The Monty Python legend called a premature end to an interview this week.
He was questioned by a journalist on his views about cancel culture and the dangers of him touring during the pandemic.
He had been expecting to chat about his shows in Singapore and Bangkok.
John went on Twitter to explain himself yesterday, leaving his 5.6million followers in no doubt as to how he felt about the BBC Asia journalist, called Karishma.
He said: “I removed my headphones, saying that this was not the interview I had agreed to. So I am formally complaining to the BBC about the deception, dishonesty and tone of this interview.
“Karishma had no interest in a discussion with me. She wanted only the role of prosecutor. The BBC needs to train her again.
“I was depressed that this kind of presenter-ego crap is so prevalent now.”
CATH: MY WEAKEST WOBBLE
EX-CORRIE star Catherine Tyldesley has told of her terror at appearing on the reboot of The Weakest Link.
The BBC1 show returns tomorrow night with Romesh Ranganathan taking over hosting duties from Anne Robinson.
It kicks off with a Strictly Come Dancing special.
Catherine who was a contestant on the dance competition with pro partner Johannes Radebe in 2019, said: “I think my biggest competition is probably Dr Ranj Singh, just because he’s a doctor.
“He’s clearly a very clever man, whereas I pretend to be a tree for a living.
“My experience was terrifying. I didn’t expect my heart to beat that fast.
“You really feel the pressure from the off.
“You don’t want to let anybody down and you don’t want to be the weakest link.
“It was harder than I expected. Strictly was probably the hardest because I can’t actually dance.
“But this was up there in terms of nerves and pressure.”
Johannes couldn’t help her this time, either.

PAUL HINT ON PLANS TO RETIRE
COMIC and TV presenter Paul O'Grady has finally suggested he might step down from showbiz at the age of 66.
He was speaking recently on his BBC Radio 2 show about the retirement of 79-year-old broadcaster Fred Dinenage after more than 50 years in television.
The performer, who unleashed his drag character Lily Savage on the world in 1978, clearly felt inspired by Fred’s decision.
Paul, who was recently on our screens with his Saturday Line Up show on ITV, said:
“He’s a broadcasting legend, Fred. And actually not that much older.
“It’s really scary. I remember watching him as a kid.
