Coronation Street’s Sam Aston reveals wife Briony is expecting a baby girl after announcing second pregnancy
CORONATION Street star Sam Aston has revealed he and wife Briony are set to welcome a baby girl.
The soap actor, 28, announced in October that his other half was expecting their second child, a sibling to their son Sonny, 16 months.
Speaking to , Sam admitted: " I could see us having another boy, so it was a really nice surprise. I was quite shocked. I don’t know why, because it’s a 50/50 chance!
"We booked an early gender reveal 4D scan at a place called Instascan 4D Baby in Padiham.
"There are twins in Briony’s family, so when we went in I was a bit nervous and said, 'There’s definitely only one in there, right?' He said, 'There’s only one!' and then told us it was a girl!"
The couple hadn't been planning to have another child so soon but now
they are happy to be having kids that will "be close in age".
Briony explained: "We were actually trying not to get pregnant! [Laughs] Just because Sonny was so premature – my concern was having two too close together and having another premature baby. But it just happened!"
Yoga teacher Briony also said that the couple "feel really lucky to have one of each" .
In October, the couple announced they were expecting a second child and revealed the news on Instagram with a sweet photo of Sonny sitting among four pumpkins.

Wearing a sweet rainbow jumper, the tot held up a sign that read: "We're adding another pumpkin to our patch! Due Spring 2022".
Briony shared the adorable photo to her Instagram page, with just a star emoji as the caption, with Sam posting to his own account without anything extra added.
They were quickly inundated with well-wishes from followers and famous pals, with Sam's Corrie co-star Alex Mardell writing: "Congrats guys! So cute".
And Sally Ann Matthews wrote: "Oh my!!! Congratulations to you both x"
Sam and Briony welcomed little Sonny six weeks early in August 2020, with Briony writing at the time: "He calmly entered our world 6 weeks early on 11.08.20 at 5lb 7oz and we couldn’t be more in love".
The couple got married in 2019, two years after announcing their engagement.
They exchanged their vows - and did a yoga-themed first dance - in front of friends, family members and his soap co-stars at Stock Farm in Cheshire.
He and on-screen partner Gemma Winter have their hands full with their characters' baby quadruplets, and Sam previously admitted handling babies on set gave him more confidence for when his own child is born.
Sam was just 10 years old when he joined the ITV soap as Chesney, and has grown up on screen.
