The host told viewers on Tuesday the live show was close to being cancelled as the storm continued to rip across the country.

At the start of the episode, the former Blue Peter star and Jules were seen wrapped up in layers to keep warm on the farm.

Helen said: "Hello, it is Tuesday night.

"It has been really stormy over the last few hours, but we're here, we're in one piece, we're relatively warm but we're definitely live!"

Jules revealed: "We certainly are, now there have been storms across the UK in the last 24 hours, this was the scene here on the farm earlier, we genuinely weren't sure if we'd go on air, were we?"

Helen continued: "I'm sure plenty of you weren't sure if you'd make it home it has been wet and wild out there."

A clip showed strong winds and heavy snow covering the area, but fortunately it seemed to have calmed down.

Helen then explained what would happen if the show was suddenly cut-off.

She told viewers a repeat episode of The Yorkshire Vet would be shown in its place.

Luckily, the farming show was able to continue for the full hour without any major interruptions.

Storm Barra has been causing havoc across the country, following closely behind Storm Arwen which battered the UK over a week ago.

Nearly all of the UK is under yellow weather warnings for snow and wind today.

Heavy snow is expected across northern England and Scotland bringing likely travel disruption, especially over higher routes.

Luckily, Helen managed to get through the episode as she showed viewers how farmers in the UK prepare for winter and Christmas.

Winter on the Farm continues on Wednesday at 8pm on Channel 5.
