EMMERDALE star Matthew Wolfenden has freshened up his dramatic new hairstyle - sparking speculation that he will not be back on screens for some time.
Matthew and his co-star Isabel Hodgins have not appeared on the soap since October 28 amid allegations of a race row.
Sources had suggested the pair would not return until January, however Matthew's decision to keep his hair tightly cropped means he could be away for longer.
Soap stars are encouraged not to make changes to their hair in order to keep continuity with their on-screen character.
But in a new video clip on Instagram, Matthew has once again buzzed his hair super-short and bleached it blonde. He first shaved his head in October.
The star is sitting in his dressing gown in the footage and laughed as he used a 'what job suits your face' filter.
After appearing to 'scan' his face, the app suggested Matthew should be a model.
His fellow Emmerdale star wife, Charley Webb, also used the app before being told she should be 'Royalty'.
A second go suggested the married couple should both be bakers.
RACE ROW ALLEGATIONS
Matthew, known to millions of viewers as David Metcalfe, has been absent from filming following a complaint that an inappropriate comment was made to a female mixed-race cast member.
He and co-star Isabel, who plays Victoria Sugden in the show, is also facing claims that the actress’s accent was mimicked.
Matthew and Isabel, 27, both categorically deny all the allegations and are said to believe that there had been a misunderstanding.
Although Matthew and Isabel have not been formally suspended by ITV bosses, neither has filmed scenes for the popular Dales soap since September while enquiries continue.
A source told The Sun last month: “It is common knowledge on set that Matthew and Isabel are not filming at the moment following a complaint.
“This all came about after a conversation between them and another actress — during which the alleged remark was made.
“An accusation was also made that the actress’s accent had been mimicked.”

At the time of The Sun on Sunday’s initial story on the bust-up, an Emmerdale spokeswoman insisted that neither Matthew or Isabel had been formally suspended.
She added: “While we would never comment on individual cases, Emmerdale has robust policies in place to deal with any allegations brought to our attention and take the appropriate steps.”
When contacted again a fortnight ago with regards to the race row allegations, the spokeswoman insisted: “Our position has not changed."
