The Ipcress File cast: Who stars in the ITV drama?

ITV's adaptation of Len Deighton's 1962 spy novel The Ipcress File is finally here.

The "enthralling and atmospheric" espionage thriller set in Berlin and London during the 1960s sees Peaky Blinders' Joe Cole and Bohemian Rhapsody's Lucy Boynton in the leading roles.

Who stars in The Ipcress File?

Joe Cole as Harry Palmer

Joseph Michael Cole is a 32-year-old English actor from Kingston, London.

He is best known for Luke in Skins, Tommy in Offender, John Shelby in Peaky Blinders, Marzin and Beckwith in Secret In Their Eyes, Reece in Green Room, and Billy Moore in A Prayer Before Dawn.

He also appeared in a season four episode of Charlie Brooker's Black Mirror, earning a Bafta nomination for Best Actor.

In ITV drama The Ipcress File he plays Harry Palmer - previously played by Michael Caine in the 1965 movie - the British army sergeant and main protagonist.

Lucy Boynton as Jean 

Lucy Boynton is a 27-year-old British-American actress.

She made her professional debut as the young Beatrix Potter in Miss Potter (2006). 

The actress gained major recognition for starring as Mary Austin in the biopic Bohemian Rhapsody (2018), which also received a number of  accolades and was a box office success. 

Lucy will step into the role of Jean Courtney, the love interest of Harry Palmer.

Tom Hollander as Major Dalby 

Thomas Anthony Hollander is a 54-year-old English actor.

He began his career in theatre, where he won the Ian Charleson Award in 1992 for his performance as Witwoud in The Way Of The World.

He is best known for his role in About Time, and played Cutler Beckett in the Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise.

He also appeared in Bohemian Rhapsody as well as Enigma, Pride & Prejudice, Gosford Park, and Hanna.

In 2019 he starred as a husband whose wife wants to leave him in BBC drama Us.

Ashley Thomas as Maddox

Ashley Thomas, also known by his stage name Bashy, is a 36-year-old English musician and actor, from Kensal Rise, London.

He attended the BRIT School for Performing Arts which led him to his success today.

He is best known for his song Black Boys which he released in 2007.

He's appeared in 24: Legacy as Isaac Carter and played Jermaine in Top Boy.

In 2021 he starred in TV series Them and in The Ipcress File he plays Maddox.

Joshua James as Chico

Joshua James is an American singer-songwriter and actor born in Lincoln, Nebraska.

He is best known for Criminal (2016), Darkest Hour (2017) and No Love Lost (2013).

His original digital release of The Sun Is Always Brighter on iTunes reached No1 on the service's Folk Album list in 2007 

David Dencik as Colonel Stok 

David Sebastian Dencik is a 47-year-old Danish-Swedish actor. 

He is best known for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (2011), and The Homesman (2014).

In 2021 he appeared in Bond movie No Time to Die as villain Valdo Obruchev.

He married his wife, actress Sofie Dencik, in 2012.

Tom Vaughan-Lawlor as Cathcart

Tom Vaughan-Lawlor is a 44-year-old Irish actor.

He is best known for his roles as Ebony Maw in Avengers: Infinity War and its sequel Avengers: Endgame.

He currently lives in Whitstable with his wife Claire Cox, who is an actress, and their son.

When is The Ipcress File on ITV?

The Ipcress File premieres on ITV TONIGHT at 9pm on ITV.

Filming began in early 2021 in Liverpool and Croatia.
