Has Nick Knowles been replaced on DIY SOS?

Despite being the face of the show, Nick was replaced for the Children in Need special 2021.

The decision for him not to host this episode was made after he clashed with the BBC after breaking strict commercial rules.

The Sun revealed how Nick, 59, fell out after he appeared in a Shreddies advert.

In the advert he is seen as a builder and under BBC editorial guidelines actors and artists are banned from appearing in promotional work "in a way which mimics or replicates their on-air roles for the BBC".

Who replaced Nick Knowles on DIY SOS Children in Need special?

Funnyman Rhod Gilbert filled in for Nick on the TV special.

Speaking to The Sun before the show aired he told us he was nervous, saying: “I thought, ‘Oh, God, can I do this? He is synonymous with the show and definitely has big shoes to fill. Will I be accepted?’

"All you can do is try. I’ve always said there’s no getting around whether I could do it. It was whether I’d be accepted."

He went on: "When somebody’s been doing it for 20 years, he’s gonna be bloody good at it.

"You know, it takes a while to find your feet on these things.

"I didn’t have that. I have got one to try and do as good a job as I can. And not upset everybody, the viewers of the show.

"Hopefully, I’ve managed to pull that off.”

Comedy fans will know Rhod from his various stand-up shows, and his stint as the host on Never Mind The Buzzcocks.
