Love Trap star David Birtwistle defends show as he insists the women are in control
LOVE Trap star David Birtwistle has defended the show after it was branded “sexist”.
The shock reality show, hosted by Joel Dommett, sees an array of beautiful women battle it out to win David’s attention – and if he doesn’t fancy them they are dropped through a trapdoor.
The winner will be granted a coveted £20,000 cash prize if they can seduce David - but not all of the girls are single.
The hunky PT, who fans know from Too Hot To Handle, insists the women are in fact very much in control.
He said: "Everyone is entitled to an opinion and look, ultimately, there will always be differing opinions. I’ve been brought up seeing first-hand how my sister (and mum) have had to overcome sexism and misogyny and if ever I thought this show was in any way nasty or disrespectful I would have never agreed to appear on it.
“I may have a daughter one day and it’s important to me to stay true to my values. My reason for appearing on the show (a part from trying to find love) was the fact that the women are very much in control.
“I am being tested by those who have boyfriends and who are chasing money and not love.”

He added: “The trap doors were a shock to everyone! Even Joel ripped his trousers when he fell down one of the trap doors! There are always going to be people who love or loathe the show but I do hope people will give it a chance!”
David didn't manage to find love on that Too Hot To Handle, but affirmed that he's hoping to find the lady of his dreams now.
"She has to be outgoing, and fun, and bubbly - I want a best friend, as well as a partner," he said.
"And someone who's driven, that they want to achieve in their life, and they want to go places."
