Coronation Street’s Antony Cotton signs ‘big money deal’ to remain on soap as he teases ‘dramatic storyline’ in 2022
CORONATION Street star Antony Cotton has signed a “big money” deal to remain on the soap.
Antony has been playing lovable Sean Tully on the ITV flagship show since July 2003 and is still loving his time portraying his character on the famous cobbles.
“I’ve always said that if they’re happy for me to be there, then I’m happy to be there. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
“I feel that even more nowadays because some work is thin on the ground. I am very lucky to be in a job.”
Despite spending the last 18 years on the soap, Antony said he is still having the time of his life.
He added: “Corrie is like a giant family. It feels nice to go to work with people that you know and love.
“I’ve known a lot of them for the past 18 years. I adore people there like they’re my own family.
“For the past 19 years, I’ve never wanted to say goodbye to that.”
Corrie bosses have been forced to scrap a string of storylines due to coronavirus.
But now restrictions for TV shows have eased, there are plans to finally get them done.
Antony concluded: “There are stories that we tried to do, but in the end, we couldn’t because of the pandemic. So now they will happen over the next year.
“I have a very big, dramatic storyline that I am hoping we can now pick up and do properly.
“We are getting back into the swing of things now, so I am looking forward to the next year.
“I am hoping 12 months from now things will be completely back to normal.”
