Countdown’s Anne Robinson attacked by vile trolls for ‘ruining show’ as feud with Rachel Riley rages on
COUNTDOWN host Anne Robinson has been attacked by vile trolls for 'ruining the show' as her feud with Rachel Riley rages on.
Fans of the Channel 4 quiz show hit social media as they shared their thoughts on the 77-year-old veteran presenter.
It comes amid reports that that Anne left maths whizz Rachel, 35, frustrated with her diva demands since stepping into former host Nick Hewer’s shoes in June this year.
One viewer wrote on Twitter as they watched an episode of the programme: "#AnneRobinson makes us all feel uncomfortable watching @C4Countdown time to drop her #ASAP.
"@RachelRileyRR looks particularly cheesed off with #Robinson @susie_dent
looks uncomfortable too.
"#Robinson is ruining #Countdown."
While one troll commented: "Pity its being spoilt by the Wax effigy of a host from the not wanted anymore cupboard in Madame Taussards [sic]."
Another unhappy viewer begged: "Oh please @Channel4 #COUNTDOWN replace Anne, she is awful 😩".

A third said: "#COUNTDOWN Does Anne Robinson just pick up any old set of teeth she finds lying around?
"The ones she uses don't seem to fit her very well."
Another confessed: "I've stopped watching it bc of her. My mother has too. What an awful creature she is…
"AR, not my mother! @Channel4 get rid of AR!!"
Yesterday, The Sun revealed Anne had moaned Rachel was being “too loud” while bantering with contestants before filming.
She’s also griped about her co-star turning up at the last minute and being on her phone so much.
Numbers whiz Rachel, who is currently pregnant with her second child, says she’s been silenced.
A TV insider said: “It’s safe to say there’s no love lost.”
Channel 4 has since confirmed ratings were the highest since 2012, with audience share consistently up since Anne took over in June.
Last month’s figures were also up 15 per cent.
Director of programmes Ian Katz said: “We are thrilled that viewers are enjoying Anne at the helm of Countdown, helping one of Channel 4’s most iconic shows achieve its biggest share of audience in nine years.”

While a show insider added: “Everyone at Channel 4 is secretly thrilled this battle is out in the open — it can only boost ratings further.
“Anne is doing exactly what she said she would when she got the job — delivering and ensuring record ratings at a notoriously difficult time for terrestrial telly. But so much for the genteel world of teatime television!”
