CORONATION Street's Sally Metcalfe and Maria Connor go head to head in local council elections- but who will win?
Next week on the cobbles, Sally finds out from Aggie that Maria is running for council.
This comes after Gary admits to Maria that the council is planning to bulldoze the playing fields at the Red Rec and build a new road in their place.
After looking through the council's plans for the new bypass, Sally warns Maria that she's on a hiding to nothing.
Maria meets up with a reporter from the Gazette and organises a demonstration outside the council building.
Fiz's new boyfriend Phil Whittaker is revealed to be on the planning committee.

Phill tells Maria he'd like to buy her a coffee and hear what she has to say.
Maria has support from Ken Barlow, Daniel Osbourne, Aggie Bailey, Roy Cropper and Mary Taylor.
Meanwhile, Sally reckons Maria knows nothing about local politics.
