EastEnders fans share three mind-blowing theories about identity of Stacey Slater’s husband
EASTENDERS viewers were left in shock earlier this week as Stacey Slater made her long-awaited return to Walford with some shocking news: she’s only gone and got married again.
The feisty character, portrayed by actress Lacey Turner, was released from prison after doing time for a crime she didn’t commit.
Earlier in 2001, she discovered some cash had been pinched from her account and confronted Ruby Allen (Louisa Lytton) about it.
Pregnant Ruby tumbled down the stairs and pretended she’d miscarried as a result, later lying to the police that Stacey had pushed her.
The 33-year-old ended up being banged up for six months, but now she’s back with the bombshell.
In Monday night’s episode, Stacey asked for a quick word with ex-hubby Martin Fowler (James Bye), who thought she wanted him back.
Laughing in the poor lad’s face at the idea, the ex-con revealed she needed help telling their kids she’d got hitched.
We know it’s not Martin, but hitched to who?
While some fans of the long-running BBC soap think they’ve solved the mystery, their guesses vary.
The Sun lines up the likely suspects…
New character Eve
Spoiler alert: this week, Stacey’s old cell-mate Eve (Heather Peace) is poised to join her pal (or wife?) in Albert Square.
Earlier this month, it was announced that the new character will be LGBTQ+, so it’s totally possible she and Stacey may have fallen for each other while behind bars.
And the prospect hasn’t escaped Easties viewers, who are convinced Eve is Stacey’s new spouse.
Taking to Twitter, one excited fan wrote: ”I think it could be her cellmate Eve who comes into the show on Friday. I’d love it if Stacey and Eve were married. It would be so refreshing”.
A second chirped: ‘’I think Stacey is now a lesbian and married a woman who was one of her inmates”.
White a third added: “Stacey got married AGAIN!? What to Eve?”
A prison guard
Stacey has been locked up for a fair whack of time, and it wasn’t just Eve she was around a lot.
Every day, she’d have been close to prison guards, but exactly how close could she have got with one of them? Very close, thinks one fan.
Also floating the idea of Eve, they speculated: ‘’OMG Stacey actually got married while in prison. Seriously. But who to? Her new mate Eve? A guard?”
Max
Stacey ended up in a sordid affair with Max Branning (Jake Wood), her boyfriend Bradley’s dad, and they got themselves caught up in a toxic on-off mess of a romance.
The 2007 Christmas Day episode where the affair was revealed was one of the most iconic in Eastenders’ history.
Max hasn’t been seen in Walford since the beginning of the year after realising there was nothing there for him any more.
But the rumour mill is on overdrive, with fans convinced he could be Stacey’s secret husband.
One viewer wrote on Twitter: ‘‘So, Stacey is back and married. But who to? I’m guessing Max”.
A second asked: ”Got married to who, Stacey? Max?”
