HE'S GOT TALENT

Inside the life of EastEnders’ Charlie Wernham – from gorgeous fiancée to surprise link to Amanda Holden

ONE of our most recognised soap stars, Charlie Wernham, got his showbiz start making Amanda Holden 'moan' on Britain's Got Talent.

He first shot to fame when he was just 13-years-old on the second series of Britain's Got Talent in 2007 as a stand-up comedian.

The actor, 26, is best known for playing Robbie Roscoe on Hollyoaks from 2013 to 2016.

But he was unrecognisable on his national TV debut as he tried to make judges Piers Morgan, Amanda Holden and Simon Cowell laugh with his standup routine.

Piers slammed the teenager's jokes as 'not funny' but thought his delivery was great.

Amanda revealed the teen's standup 'made her moan' with laughter, while head judge, Simon was full of praise.

"We've had some rotten comedians on this show, but you're the only one who's made me laugh and told jokes that I could understand," he told Charlie in 2008.

With his three 'yes' votes, the teenager went through to the next round before making it to the semi-finals, where his journey on the show ended.

But since then, the talented youngster has gone from strength to strength with appearances on well-known programmes.

He enrolled at the prestigious Sylvia Young Theatre school for a series of weekend classes and started bagging some big gigs.

During his stint on Hollyoaks, he bagged himself a role on Jack Whitehall's Bad Education as Mitchell from 2012 to 2014.

Not only that, Charlie has also starred in Channel 4's The Inbetweeners as bully Danny Moore.

Charlie arrived in Walford this week to take on the role of Aaron Monroe on EastEnders.

Aaron, who has a job in the city in finance, will stop by to see his dad Harvey (Ross Boatman) and younger sister Dana (Barbara Smith), but a few things catch his eye and he decides to hang around.

On his new role, Charlie said: “It was always a childhood dream of mine to be in EastEnders.

"It’s a show that’s constantly on TV in my household as my family are massive fans so it’s always been close to my heart.

"I can’t wait to get cracking and join an incredibly talented cast!”

Away from acting, Charlie is loved up with fiancée, Emma Collis, to whom he got engaged on Valentine's Day

"Happy Valentine's Day to this absolute Treacle. I'm grateful for you everyday. I can't wait to say 'I do' and create more memories," wrote on the Instagram post announcing their engagement.

The pair have been together for about seven years and celebrated their fifth anniversary on a holiday to Rome.
