PAD DAY AT THE OFFICE

Paddy McGuinness bombarded with abuse after bitter feud with former Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson

CAR fanatics Paddy McGuinness and Jeremy Clarkson clearly grind each other’s gears.

But the comedian has come off worse following a Twitter spat which ended with him being mercilessly trolled.

Paddy McGuinness hit back at Jeremy Clarkson on Twitter when he asked “What on earth has happened to A Question of Sport?”

Jeremy posed the rhetorical question: “What on earth has happened to A Question of Sport?” a reference to the fact that its reboot with Paddy as host hasn’t worked out that well.

But Paddy hit back saying: “The same thing that’s happened to Top Gear JC. New personnel, bigger ratings. Love you.”

Mentioning Top Gear instantly enraged the legion of fans who no longer watch the BBC show since Clarkson presented it with James May and Richard Hammond left.

And they even piled in on A Question of Sport which has actually seen its ratings plunge since the days when Sue Barker presented it and it only had sports stars as guests.

One viewer wrote on Twitter: “No disrespect pal, but no one believes Top Gear is any better under your boys compared to Clarkson and co. Miles off in fact.”

Another weighed in: “Sorry to say this – but seriously the new Top Gear and Question of Sport are just pants.”

Paddy, Freddie Flintoff and Chris Harris have scored the best viewing figures for Top Gear in years – from 1.5m in Chris Evans and Matt le Blanc’s time, to around 4m.

But the trio are still a way off Clarkson’s average of 6m.

At least Paddy had one fan, who came to his defence: “Agreed. The old guard of Top Gear was like bad panto in the end.”

Oh no it wasn’t.

No panic, it's Joel

Joel Dommett is fast becoming one of our favourite telly presenters – and it seems he really can do no wrong.

For his latest heroics, he stepped in to help reality dating show contestant David Birtwhistle after a panic attack on the set of Channel 4 series The Love Trap.

Joel comforted David – who previously appeared on Netflix dating show Too Hot To Handle – as he struggled to work out which of the women vying for his attentions were legitimately single.

A show source said: “David suffered a panic attack when the pressure of trying to work out who was a trap, who was genuine and who he fancied became too much.

“Joel sat with him as he struggled to breath and broke down in tears as the tension came flooding out.

“He admits that while it would be every guy’s dream to have hot women fighting for their attention, it was a tense experience.”

Back to Valley, five years on

HAPPY Valley is to return for a third and final series after more than five years away.

The BBC yesterday announced that filming will begin early next year, with Sarah Lancashire back in her role as Sergeant Catherine Cawood.

James Norton will be returning as villain Tommy Lee Royce.

The news looks to have ended speculation about him becoming the next James Bond.

Siobhan Finneran, who plays Catherine’s sister Clare, a recovering drug addict, is also part of the cast again.

The Bafta-winning drama, set in West Yorkshire, attracted an average of 9.3million viewers during its second run in 2016.

Written by Sally Wainwright, it was first shown on BBC1 in 2014 and won the Bafta for Best Drama Series.

The 2016 Strictly winner puts in a frighteningly good performance in this musical, which is being broadcast live in 500 cinemas across the UK tomorrow for Halloween.

In his first West End role he plays college student Brad, who along with his equally straight-laced fiancée Janet ends up at a party hosted by cross-dressing scientist Dr Frank-N-Furter, who tries to seduce them.

In one scene, Ore lies in bed with the doc and later performs a dance routine in a pair of black pants and corset.
