Doctor Who fans all have the same thought about John Bishop as series 13 clip drops
DOCTOR Who fans were treated to a sneak reveal of a clip from the new eagerly anticipated 13th series – and fans all have the same thought about John Bishop’s character.
In the build up to the new season that airs on Sunday, fans have gone wild for a brand new preview of the upcoming episode, The Halloween Apocalypse.
During the short clip, viewers were given a first look at Dan Lewis, the doctor’s newest companion, played by comedian Bishop.
John is set to join the Doctor and Taz on the Tardis on this Sunday’s episode – and it’s clear from the clip that his character is a no-nonsense northern grump.
Almost reminiscent of Christopher Eccleston’s ninth Time Lord, Dan can be seen opening the door to a grown man, without a costume and holding a box of eggs, demanding “trick or treat”.
An incensed Dan demands: “How old are you? You’re not even dressed up. You’re just going around knocking on people’s doors.”
As the middle-aged trick or treater walks away, Dan shouts after him: “Don’t be throwing eggs at my house.”
Despite the trailer giving absolutely nothing away, Doctor Who fans have since been going crazy for the clip, with some going into meltdown over Dan’s grumpy demeanour.
One avid fan burst into laughter before penning: “I love Dan already, while another echoed their statement, affirming: “Right. I’m going to love Dan Lewis, aren’t I?”
Another viewer wrote: “That’s not even Dan, that’s just John Bishop shouting at a man for being a dumbass.”
While fans were already making memes from the 40-second clip shown on The One Show, they were given another treat after the official Doctor Who Twitter account shared the scene in full.
Later on, John revealed how his audition for the role of Dan in the sci-fi favourite was “not exactly traditional”.
“Because I’m not a trained actor, I couldn’t learn the lines,” he admitted, while revealing that he auditioned over Zoom on his mobile phone – stuck to the wall with blu-tack.
Fans will be able to see John’s debut on the Tardis this Halloween night at 6.25pm on Sunday, October 31 on BBC One.
