Where to watch Shetland series 1 to 6
FANS can't wait for hit BBC crime series Shetland to return to our screens for a seventh series.

However, you can catch up with series 6 now on the , free of charge (as long as you have a TV licence).
Series seven of Shetland is making an explosive return to TV on August 10 2022.
You can catch all of the action from 9pm on BBC One - after this episodes will air weekly at the same time.
What happened in each series?
Series One
An Elderly Shetlander named Mima Wilson is found murdered on the archaeological site on the grounds of her croft.
Detective Inspector Jimmy Perez and his team investigate, and find that somehow the murder is linked to the Shetland bus.
Series Two
DI Jimmy Perez and his team investigate the murder of a teenage girl whose body was found on a private beach.
A single name keeps cropping up time and time again.

Series Three
A young man disappears on a ferry crossing and a small boy ends up in intensive care.
DI Perez and his team are certain that both events are linked.
DI Perez is convinced that Maguire is implicated in the death of a young man discovered in a shipping container.

Series Four
The fourth series of BBC detective drama saw the release of Tommy Malone, a local man imprisoned 23 years ago for the murder of local teenager Lizzie Kilmuir.

DI Perez has to reopen the investigation into the 1994 death of local teenager Lizzie Kilmuir.
Perez is on the trail of the attacker and Tosh investigates an oil company in the hunt for Sally’s killer.
DNA testing in the Kilmuir case gives some surprising results.
Perez questions Donna about the DNA results, Tosh arrives in Norway in search of Andreas Hagan and an unexpected twist leads Perez and Tosh into the world of the Norwegian far right.

Series Five
The fifth series saw Perez investigate the murder of young Nigerian man Daniel and the disappearance of his sister Zezi after a severed hand washed up on Shetland beach.
Perez began to suspect that a human trafficking gang on the island was responsible for killing Daniel and kidnapping Zezi.
His main suspects – the Hayes family – were shortly afterwards found murdered in their home, with only one surviving family member left for dead.
Series 6
Season six saw the return of a familiar face: Donna Killick, who (back in season four) was revealed to be a murderer after Jimmy Perez reopened the cold case murder of teenager Lizzie Kilmuir.
Donna returned home to Shetland on compassionate grounds, after she was diagnosed with cancer while in prison.
However, things took a turn when she convinced Duncan to help her die by suicide before she could be transferred back to prison, which he did by mixing all her medicine into her mug of hot chocolate for her.
Donna tried to frame Duncan as she told her lawyer ahead of her death that Duncan had pressured her to die.
The episode ended in Duncan confessing and telling his side of the story to save Jimmy's career but this backfired and Jimmy was arrested in the final moments of the episode.
Where is Shetland filmed?
When the BBC series first hit TV screens in 2013 viewers were as impressed by the scenery and have wondered where Shetland is actually filmed.

Despite the story largely taking place on the Shetland Islands, some of the filming is done on the Scottish mainland.
The exterior shots tend to be filmed on the Shetland islands but some exterior shots are filmed in Glasgow.
