GREAT British Bake Off fans have branded Matt Lucas and Noel Fielding "rude" and "offensive" after they used fake German accents during the show's first ever German Week.
The GBBO presenters repeatedly addressed the tent of bakers using the "irritating" accents - despite one of the contestants' being German.
IT professional Jürgen, 56, spent much of his life living in Black Forest, Germany, before moving to the UK 18 years ago.
Taking to Twitter, viewers of the Channel 4 show were horrified to hear Matt and Noel mimicking the German accent both in his presence and in front of millions of viewers.
One complained: "At what point do these endless German accents and impressions become racist?! Can't imagine it'd be the same during 'Jamaican Week' #GBBO."
Another added: "Actually quite uncomfortable with the naff 1970’s BBC comedy German accents. Come on grow up. #GBBO."

A third fumed: "All these awful German accents are so offensive #GBBO."
And a fourth wrote: "Starting to find the mock German accent both irritating and inappropriate. Would this be allowed if it were another nationality? #GBBO."
German Week is a new addition to The Great British Bake Off.
During the show, the bakers were challenged with making German Biscuits and a Prinzregententorte. They had to make a yeast-leavened cake for their Showstopper.
However, outraged fans accused the Channel 4 show of favouring contestant Jürgen by holding a German-themed show.

One previously tweeted: "German Week !! No questioning who will be star baker then. They should all do a Vegan week to see how difficult it is for Freya."
