THE second episode of ITV's The Larkins aired on Sunday night, with viewers getting another look at the Darling Buds of May reboot - but it hasn’t gone down so well.
Airing for the first time last week, the new series stars Bradley Walsh as Pop Larkin, a role previously played by the iconic David Jason, while Sabrina Bartlett stars as Mariette, originally played by Catherine Zeta-Jones.
The reboot, much like the Darling Buds of May, tells the story of a working-class family around rural Kent in the 1950s.
Die-hard fans of the original series turned in to watch the new edition, but several claimed they “switched off” after struggling to enjoy the comedy-drama show.
Last weekend’s opening episode seemed to get off to a swift start as fans were immediately immersed in family life, but some viewers felt they weren’t given enough time to learn more about the characters.
Instead, many argued that the series seemed to fit all of the storylines from Darling Buds of May into the first episode - a move that has since unimpressed the devoted fan base.
Sunday night’s second episode of the show saw the lovable Larkins family attempt to charm the taxman.
However, while watching the episode, viewers made it clear on Twitter that they were still unimpressed.
One viewer said: “Well, I thought I’d give it another try, but no, it’s still rubbish so I’ve turned it off.”
Another fumed: “I’ve had to switch The Larkings off, unfortunately. Nothing like the original at all. Going to start rewatching the original that I have on DVD.”
A third complained: “Still not warming to The Larkins.”

Some viewers also commented on Bradley Walsh’s acting skills, suggesting he’s no match for David Jason.
One said: “Just tried watching The Larkins with Bradley Walsh, such a shame it feels like a weak version of Darling Buds of May.”
Another exclaimed: “I wonder what David Jason thinks!”
The Larkins, which is a six-episode series, will return to screens on ITV at 8pm on Sunday.
