A Place in the Sun guest breaks down in tears as heartbreaking reason behind big move is revealed

A PLACE in the Sun guest broke down in tears as they put in an offer for a property abroad on the show.

Chris was joined by his wife Marie and was completely overwhelmed with emotion when host Danni Menzies confirmed their offer had been accepted.

The tears were caused by the heartbreaking reason for the couple’s big move to Spain.

Chatting to Channel 4‘s Danni about their planned new life in the Costa Del Sol, Marie said: “When you’re here you feel relaxed.”

Going on to reveal her recent health problems, Marie continued: “I had a quadruple heart bypass and now I have a new perspective.”

Danni replied: “A new lease of life.”

As Chris commented: “This is our adventure.”

The pair were looking for a two-bed property with two bathrooms and a nice view, armed with a budget of £125,000.

Referring to her heart bypass, Marie added: “When I came out of it I think we needed something for ourselves to move forward.

“New beginnings and hopefully that’s what we’ll get it’s been a hard struggle but I’m here.”

It was the last place on Danni’s list of properties – a two-bedroom apartment in La Chullera with stunning sea views – which caught their eye in the end.

On the market for just over £130,000, Chris decided to put in a brave offer of £115,000.

There were smiles all round as the amount was accepted, before Chris became overwhelmed.

He exclaimed: “I’m b****y crying.”

As Marie responded: “He’s crying, isn’t it lovely.

“What’s getting you emotional?”

He replied honestly: “Nothing, just seeing you so happy.”

“He’s such a romantic, aren’t you? I love it,” gushed Danni.
