And the movie is still to open in America on Friday and in China in late October, which will further boost its impressive numbers.

Studio bosses are expecting it to be the third most successful Bond film internationally, following months of pandemic delays.

No Time To Die was released in 772 cinemas in the UK and Ireland last Thursday — making it Universal’s widest release. Skyfall opened in 587 cinemas in 2012.

More than 30,000 tickets were sold for the midnight showings and 1.6 million sold over the first four days of its release.

Bond boss Barbara Broccoli said she would not start casting the 53-year-old’s replacement until 2022. She said: “We want Daniel to have his time of celebration.

“Next year we will start thinking about the future.”
