Strictly Come Dancing bosses frustrated as Katie McGlynn’s Hollyoaks filming clashes with rehearsals
STRICTLY bosses have been angered by Katie McGlynn’s Hollyoaks filming commitments eating into her dance rehearsal time.
Last week the former Coronation Street star finished joint third from the bottom of the scoreboard for her tango.
Since the contest launched two weeks ago Katie, 28, has had to fit her practice sessions with hunky Spanish pro dancer Gorka Marquez around shooting scenes for the Channel 4 soap.
A TV insider said: “Tensions seem to be rising as the actor struggles to juggle her two major commitments.
“There is no suggestion that Katie herself is to blame. She is being pulled in one direction by Hollyoaks and in the other by Strictly.
“But there’s no doubt she is exhausted by her schedule and she isn’t getting in as much practice as she would like with Gorka, who’s even arranged rehearsal sessions in Manchester to make life easier for her.”
Katie spends a chunk of her weekdays filming Hollyoaks in Liverpool, where she plays firebrand Becky Quentin.
At weekends she makes the 440-mile round trip south and back to make Strictly’s live shows at Elstree Studios in Herts
BBC bosses made it clear they didn’t blame Katie for the situation.
A spokeswoman said: “The suggestion that Strictly production is disappointed in Katie for any reason is categorically untrue.”
A Hollyoaks spokesperson said: “Earlier this week exterior scenes were delayed by wet weather. We then rescheduled a scene so Katie could attend her training. We will all be rooting for her tonight.”
