What happened in the Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins 2021 final?

Armed with just a compass and a map, the five final recruits were on the run from a specialist hunter force who was trying to track and capture them.

The aim was to make it to an extraction point.

If captured, the recruits would face the most psychologically demanding of all the phases, interrogation, where they are hooded and exposed to white noise, and face brutal tactical questioning from a specialist team of interrogators.

The psychological pressure proved too much for some, and not all five complete the course.

TV presenter Ore Oduba and Olympic rower James Cracknell didn’t survive the final challenges, so narrowly missed out on passing the selection process.

Who won Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins 2021?

Chief instructor Ant Middleton had the duty of delivering the news to the final recruits, as they stood before the SAS: Who Dares Wins instructors, including Mark “Billy” Billingham, Jason “Foxy” Fox, and Melvyn Downes, who joined the show earlier in the year.

“I can let you know now that we’ve reached the end of the course – finished, done. Take what you’ve learned here and go out and smash whatever you have to do, because you’re all capable of doing that, but that doesn’t mean that you’ve all passed,” Middleton explained.

Middleton then revealed that the three recruits standing in front of him – Alexandra Burke, Wes Nelson, and Aled Davies – had passed the selection process, saying: “You three have successfully completed this course. Absolutely amazing. Well done!”

“We’re not looking for one person,” Downes said following the announcement. “The common denominator is honesty, integrity, perseverance and excellence.”

“We’re not looking for you to say it, we’re looking for you to prove it,” Billy added.

“For me passing selection was such a sense of achievement, but it’s horrendous. I chose to do it, f*** what an idiot,” Foxy explained.

So there you have it! Alexandrea Burke, Aled Davies and Wes Nelson were all crowned winners of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins 2021.

Television presenter and former Strictly Come Dancing champion Ore Oduba was one of the competitors to make it to the final.

He has since mentioned that after filming SAS Who Dares Wins, he has been left with an element of PTSD.

Speaking to , Ore said: “I’ve never been through an experience like that that haunted me for days following.

"I remember just doing a workout at home and I felt heavy from the experience.”

“I think it’s going to be a very different experience watching the show back because it will trigger a lot of the things that we went through and found in ourselves and survived and beat or were affected by.”

Ore has made it clear that there is a team of psychologists on the show at all times, as well as an aftercare team.

Unfortunately Ore wasn't able to finish in the final and was medically withdrawn.

James Cracknell, a 49-year-old Olympian, was also in the final of the gruelling SAS training show.

The athlete opened up about his head injury after being hit by a truck while cycling in 2010.

The Directing Staff pulled James in for a chat with the former Olympian revealing how he didn't expect it to be so “full on mentally”.

He explained: "For me, one of the real reasons for coming here was I feel over the past few years I’ve lost a bit of confidence and I probably backed off doing the physical things better than I could have done, and I probably wasn’t being true to myself – and that has started to get better."

He continued to explain how the accident caused him to have frustration because of the limits that it put on him, and as a result damaged his confidence.

He added: “The assumption with having had a serious brain injury is that that then defines the rest of my life – and you won’t be able to do that, you won’t be able to do that…”

He finished: "You’re left thinking the worst things about yourself, and I’ve really struggled."

Alexandra Burke

The X Factor winner Alexandra Burke was the only female left in the competition.

She described taking part in the show as “the best decision” she has ever made - even going as far as passing the course!

The 33-year-old singer revealed that it had been something she had “always wanted to” participate in as the show pushes people to their limits.

Alexandra has spoken about her mental strength prior to taking part in the competition - while paying tribute to her mother.

The Bad Boys singer confessed: "If I'm completely honest, I would rate my mental strength quite high. And that's me being very honest and not being big-headed about it either.

"My mental strength, honestly, comes from a place where I've seen my mum go through so many ups and downs in her life and her career.

"I think that is where my strength comes from because I don't have an excuse in my eyes to be anything but strong."

Love Island's star Wes Nelson had somewhat of an emotional journey on the show after he was reduced to tears after receiving a punishment for throwing his water bottle.

The 22-year old reality star grew increasingly angry during a challenge and ended up throwing part of the equipment.

As a result, directing staff Jason Fox insisted that Wes did 20 burpees.

The See Nobody singer admitted to his 1.6 million fans that the course itself was exactly as hard as it looks on the screen.
