Coronation Street crisis as Jack P Shepherd runs out of petrol so has to abandon £41k Mustang and get lifts to filming
CORONATION Street star Jack P Shepherd has told of the moment he ran out of petrol during the fuel crisis and had to abandon his Mustang.
When asked how he got home from work this week without the £41,000 motor, Jack revealed: "A lift. My girlfriend's sister."
The actor said he'd tried to fill the tank but was laughed out of the petrol station amid the spiralling fuel crisis.
Jack - who plays David Platt in Corrie - admitted: "My car is at work. I've got no fuel. It's gone.
"I've turned up to petrol stations and there's queues and I'm like, 'Oh, they've got fuel.'
"I get out and I'm like, 'Petrol?' I might as well have said, 'Egyptian artefacts.'
"They just look at me like I'm insane for asking if there's any petrol.
"You can get diesel, but I can't find petrol anywhere."
Jack added as he joked: "It's (the fuel crisis) really bad now, it's affecting celebrities."
The powerful American car, which Jack has owned since 2017, is his pride and joy.
Jack - who is dating ex-Corrie PR Hanni Treweek - is often pictured arriving at the Corrie set in the black muscle car.
But speaking about his car not being very economical, he said on the Sofa Cinema Club podcast: "It says five miles on the clock, but it's not five miles. It might as well be one.
"If I fill it up it says I've got 250 miles, but I haven't. I've got about a third of that."
Asked if he has to drive like a granny because of this, he said: "Yeah.
"Well, I live in the city centre so I can't drive anywhere anyway. I'm always in traffic.
"So I'm always going slow."
