Susanna Reid says Piers Morgan’s ‘ghost’ lives on at Good Morning Britain after gaffe
SUSANNA Reid insisted Piers Morgan's "ghost" lives on at Good Morning Britain - after guest host Alastair Campbell was confused for him.
Susanna was tickled by the gaffe as guests accidentally addressed "Piers" - not once, but twice.
Kevin Maguire meant to say Boris Johnson, but in a slip of the tongue said: "Piers..."
Realising his error, he added: "Piers Morgan, remember him?
"I saw him at a party last night."
Carrying on the morning debate, Andrew Pierce cut in over Kevin to talk about Labour leader Keir Starmer.
But when he was interrupted by host Alastair, Andrew said: "No, hang on, Piers.. Alastair"
Alastair shouted: "Stop calling me Piers, for God's sake."
Susanna laughed: "The ghost of Piers Morgan still exists on this programme."
Andrew cheekily told Alastair: "You look so similar, just a bit older..."
And in a swipe at his predecessor, Alastair said: "What do you mean? I've only got two chins."
In the six years he was at Good Morning Britain, presenting alongside Susanna, Piers helped treble the ITV programme’s ratings.
But he was forced out of the breakfast show six months ago for refusing to apologise to Meghan Markle on air.
He had previously called into question Meghan’s remarks about mental health during the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s controversial Oprah interview.
Piers is now joining The Sun and News Corp in a global deal that’s a "bigger comeback than Cristiano Ronaldo".
Britain's powerhouse journalist is returning to his roots, coming back to where he started his brilliant career, to present a new global TV show and be a columnist for The Sun.
Piers’ new 60-minute show on talkTV, will feature big name celebrities, politicians and guests, and promises to be a “lively mix” of discussion, debate and popular opinion.
