Mos Def features in the footage announcing the Netflix doc Jeen-Yuhs

Described as a three-act doc, it follows the musician over a 20 year period with behind-the-scenes footage showing his journey from artist to businessman, his failed presidential bid and the death of his mother, Donda.

Jeen-Yuhs is co-directed by Coodie Simmons and Chike Ozah - the pair responsible for West's Jesus Walks and Through the Wire videos.

Judging from the clip, fans of the star are promised a range of previously unseen footage from Kanye's career during the intimate portrait.

In the short teaser, Kanye is seen with fellow rapper Mos Def passionately spitting lyrics from their song Two Words, which featured on Kanye's Grammy Award-winning 2004 album, The College Dropout.

The throwback footage was from a gathering with friends in New York in 2002.

One fan gushed: "Just watched the teaser for the new Kanye documentary on Netflix and oh my god I'm way too hyped.

"I'm really hoping it's done well".

Another wrote on Twitter: "Finally the documentary on the greatest artist of this generation!!"

A third echoed: "Finally the greatest artist of our generation and one of the greatest of all times gets his documentary.

"Will be lit knowing his side of the story."

A fourth added: "Cant wait for this Kanye documentary to come out & for everyone to stop giving me so much shit for being obsessed w the mf".

This year has seen Kanye continue to hit the headlines with the breakdown of his marriage to Kim Kardashian and their ongoing divorce.

It's not yet known whether this will be documented in the Netflix offering.

Last month, Kanye released his long-awaited 10th studio album Donda, named after his late mother who died in 2007 following complications from cosmetic surgery.

The compilation broke the year's record for most-streamed artist and album in one day, as well as becoming the third most-played album on its first day of release on Apple Music.

The date of the documentary's broadcast is yet to be confirmed but will be sometime in 2022.
