Welcome to Plathville’s Olivia Plath reveals she wants to ‘take some space’ from husband Ethan in a possible separation
WELCOME to Plathville stars Ethan and Olivia Plath discussed taking a break from each other in a preview of this week's episode.
The couple, who have been documenting their marriage issues on the TLC show, sat down for a difficult chat with producers.
"I want to take some space because I think until he figures out what he wants I'm not really able to have a relationship with him," Olivia, 23, said on the clip obtained by .
Asked how that made him feel, Ethan replied, "I can't make sense of it, it doesn't make sense.
"I feel like I have worked so hard to give you a good life, to give us a good life at 22, and it wasn't good enough," he added.
Olivia went on to say there was a "growing divide" between the couple.
"I've lived with you for over two years and I wasn't what you wanted then, what you wanted then was this house and that job and those cars and this lifestyle," she said.
"There's a growing divide between us because he holds on to everything here and the more I distance myself from everything here and the more I realize that he wants to keep it the harder it is to reconcile in my mind."

"Have you ever thought about the fact that that might be because that's the only thing I have left?" Ethan asked.
Olivia added that she thinks they just want different things in life.
"I have thought about that," she responded. "But it's really hard for me to want so much with my life and realize that I will probably not get to have that if we're together, and it's really hard for me to reconcile like, I love you and do I want this relationship or do I want this for my life? Because I feel like it's an either/or and it's really hard to know what to do."
Ethan added, "I don't think that it's an either/or, I think that there has to be compromise on both sides and maybe I'm just in the middle of it and I can't see clearly, but I feel like I have compromised a lot.
"And you don't see that and so this just feels like yet another compromise where I have to change to suit you."
"You don't have to change," Olivia told Ethan.
"Yeah well, listen, when I say that, it's understood that for this to work, I have to change," he said.
The new episode of Welcome To Plathville airs Tuesday 10pm ET.
MARRIAGE PROBLEMS
between the couple as they disagreed about where they wanted to live.
Olivia explained why she wanted to move to a bigger city while Ethan said he was happier in a rural town.
As the episode opened, Ethan expressed his doubt about moving to Tallahassee with Olivia and said he wanted to make sure their relationship is going to be okay first.
"Stuff between Olivia and I, it’s been a little bit difficult," he said.
He explained, "I would do anything to make my marriage my work.
'NOT RIGHT FOR EACH OTHER'
"But sometimes when you hear from the person you’re in a relationship with, that we may just not be right for each other, after hearing that, you wonder if its in your power to make it work."
And later the couple had a tense conversation as they stood in their kitchen talking about making a big move.
"As long as I'm with you I’m probably never going to come back to an environment I like, which is small town, rural…" Ethan said.
Olivia replied that she wants a 'bigger city, more people, more stimulation, more ideas."
Earlier in the season Olivia confided in Ethan's sister Moriah, 18, about being
After discussing birth control with , who gushed about her relationship with Max, Olivia said she wasn't using any protection.
She then admitted that she suffered a pregnancy loss but was relieved it didn't happen.
"I did get pregnant. A little while back. And I miscarried." she said.
'I DON'T WANT A KID'
“I felt bad for being relieved, but I was so relieved because it was, like, a wake-up call of, like, 'I’m not ready to have a kid. I don’t want a kid.'"
"Ethan was just as relieved as me." she added.
In a confessional, Olivia said: "I know the topic of miscarriage is something that's like, super personal and affects a lot of people and people feel very differently. But I also think there's a stigma around it and there's not a lot of freedom to talk about it," Olivia said.
"I know when I went through a miscarriage, I felt really alone because I was glad," she admitted. "And I felt like I was wrong for feeling that way and I wish I'd had more people to talk to who could've been a sounding board or who could've had a different perspective, maybe than what I was raised with."
'NOT DOING GREAT'
In her chat with , Olivia admitted that she and Ethan were "not doing great."
Olivia recalled being the one always "guiding" Ethan after he moved out of his parents' home.
"For a while it worked, it worked being the one showing new things and giving new experiences and like, guiding him along."
Olivia then admitted to Moriah, "I want a relationship that is equal."
"I can go to therapy, I can try to heal and process and grow, but I can't do that for Ethan."
