PHILIP Schofield admitted he planned to “get off his face” tonight after This Morning won Best Daytime at the National Television Awards.
The presenter, 59, and his co-host Holly Willoughby, 40, are known for turning up to work the next day very hungover but fortunately won’t have to this year.
Speaking in the winner’s room, Phil revealed: “For the first time ever we are now off for the first time ever until Monday, I am off my face as of five minutes.”
Clearly feeling the love tonight, he continued: “Can I also just say, when the chips are down and you find yourself in a situation you’ve never been through before, you’re on the telly in a bizarre year…and you’re going through it with a mate. my best friend (Holly) was quite incredible.
“She is just the best friend to have.”
Phillip compared working through Covid to going to war, as he shared: “If I’m honest we really bloody wanted this.

"I don’t know what it’s like to going through war, of course, but we have all been hands on in a studio with no people, no crew, and all the people around us normally are gone.
“I think the mere fact we stayed on every day during this crazy time, suddenly thought this year is quite important. It’s been a shitty year, it’s been a shitty year.”

Holly added: “We just needed a bit of normality. When the wheels fell off of the world and everything looked different I think we just needed a normal morning.
"Selfishly had we not had This Morning the whole thing would have been worse and people felt like we were in something together.”
