MILLIE Court and Liam Reardon were crowned the winners of Love Island tonight - and agreed to split the £50,000 prize pot.

The lovers, who recently reconciled after a brief split on the show, had been the bookies’ favourites to leave the villa triumphant.

Host Laura Whitmore announced Millie, 24, and Liam, 22, had beaten Toby Aromolaran and Chloe Burrows, Kaz Kamwi and Tyler Cruickshank, Teddy Soares and Faye Winter to the big-cash pot following a tense 90 minute episode.

Kaz and Tyler finished in fourth and vowed to continue as a couple back in the UK, while Faye and Teddy came third following their controversial row just weeks ago.

The pair’s journey in the villa wasn’t easy viewing, with the argument between the couple sparking 25,000 Ofcom complaints.

Faye told host Laura Whitmore, "my head got a bit lost, didn't it."

She then vowed to leave her home county of Devon to be closer to her man after the show.

Finishing a close second were Chloe and Toby, who smiled and clapped the winning pairing.

The top two couples both became official in tonight's finale, with Toby popping the girlfriend question after his emotional speech.

While Liam waited until just before the result was announced to finish the show in a proper relationship.

Some viewers thought he was going to propose, but Millie was happy enough to just be asked out.

She said afterwards: "I'm in shock, that was cute."

Viewers were torn over the winning couple, after bricklayer Liam was branded a snake for cheating on Millie with Lillie Haynes at Casa Amor earlier in the series.

But Liam won Millie’s heart back after he’d snogged Lillie and said she was the one for him.

Millie’s family have also been charmed by the builder, with her mum Esme saying the builder could move into the family home if he wanted to be closer to her daughter.

She told The Sun: “I think he is a really nice guy and I think he is genuine. “From what I’ve seen of him, he seems like a really sweet boy.”

In tonight's episode each of the four remaining couples were seen making their declarations of love to one another.

Winners Liam and Millie kicked off proceedings, with the builder gushing over Millie.

He said: “Laying next to you made me forget that I was in bed but almost made me feel like I was floating on a cloud floating high up in the skies.”

Millie added: “Seven weeks ago I walked into the Villa not knowing what my journey was going to hold. However, I knew I only had eyes for you.”

“Things took a turn for the worse but I knew I wasn’t going to be able to stay away and I just wanted to be back in your arms. I’d happily let you sing to me for the rest of our lives!”

The pair will now return to the UK and go into quarantine before they can start their lives together.
