LOVE Island star Liberty Poole's mum has revealed she was "heartbroken" to see the way Jake Cornish treated her daughter on TV.
The mum of the 21-year-old former Nandos waitress said she'd been looking forward to meeting Jake before their shock split.
Liberty and Jake Cornish had been together on the ITV2 show since day one but called time on their romance this week, just days ahead of the final this Monday.
Their split was shortly followed by the decision to leave the villa, leaving their fellow contestants gobsmacked.
Jo, 49, said it had been hard to watch her daughter go through heartbreak but that she was extremely proud of her for making the "right call."
Speaking to Jo explained: "It was an emotional journey, and I’m grateful she’s with me."
She continued: "I was really looking forward to meeting Jake. But from what I’ve seen, Liberty totally made the right decision."

Jo added: "I think Jake has had a rough time and if Libby is saying he is a nice person, then I have to stick with that.
"But it was heartbreaking because she was looking for love and he was as well."
The mum admits that she was hoping Liberty would find "true love" in the villa and was gutted when she didn't.
Shortly before their decision to split, Liberty told best friend Kaz Kamwi that she didn't believe that Jake loved her.
"I did fall in love with him. He's saying I love you, but he doesn't. You fight for someone you love," she told the fashion blogger.
Jo added; "I wanted it to be that true love – either a passionate love or the kind where it’s, ‘I care for you and want to make you feel safe.’ I didn’t see that from him towards my daughter and she definitely deserved that so made the right call.”
The decision to split from Jake, and eventually walk from the villa, means Jake and Liberty missed out on a chance to win £50,000 in Monday’s grand final.
