NETFLIX has announced the release date for the highly anticipated season four of Stranger Things with a first look video.
Netflix's official Twitter account tweeted that the next season of the hit supernatural show will air in 2022.
While it didn't give a specific month or day, the teaser showcased a series of moments from seasons one to three to show the story so far.
Then the video teased Eleven's new look, but she was held back by shadowy government agents.
Hopper looked like he has broken out of Russian captivity and is bringing the heat with a flamethrower.
There are also scenes of Hawkins’ high school, hinting at more school shenanigans, while the gang is seen playing a Dungeon and Dragons-style game.
The caption read: "uʍop ǝpᴉsdn ǝɥʇ uᴉ noʎ ǝǝS" (See you in the upside down)
And added: "Stranger Things returns in 2022."
"Much more ambitious"
New episodes were originally meant to air this year, but due to the pandemic it has been delayed.
Despite this, executive producer Shawn Levy has promised "much bigger" things to come.
He told : "To state the incredibly obvious, it's been way, way, way, way too long, and it's coming.
"It's visually and narratively very ambitious, much more ambitious than the prior three seasons.
"The delay is due in large measure to Covid and the pace at which we have to work to do so safely.
"But, it also happens to be the season that we chose to go much bigger. It's the scale of this season and the multi-settings of season four."
There is also a rumored return of Dr. Martin Brenner, played by Matthew Modine.
