Jeremy Clarkson reveals jaw-dropping moment Richard Hammond nearly DROWNED as boat sank on The Grand Tour
JEREMY Clarkson has revealed the jaw-dropping moment that Richard Hammond nearly DROWNED as his boat sank on The Grand Tour.
The Clarkson Farm star, 61, shared his favourite scene from the upcoming special in Scotland, and it involves co-host Richard getting soaked from head to toe.
Jeremy said the moment was so rib-tickling funny that the crew raced to film the hilarious mishap.
He revealed: "Richard Hammond falling in the sea - well going upside down again.
"We wanted to leave 20 minutes for the ending because I know something would go wrong and you have no idea what.
"When I got there, there was a bit of a panic because if it goes well then it’s three minutes of television.
"I thought Richard Hammond has gone all this way and he hasn’t gone upside down and then he went upside down.
We just burst out laughing when somebody has been hurt or makes a fool of themselves.

"Honestly my knees collapsed when it happened, I was laughing so much, that panicky laughter when you think if you don’t breathe and then you’re going to suffocate."
The TV presenter said that they set out to entertain viewers even if that means the occasional scuff or graze.
He continued: "Richard was saying after that no one was trying to help me, nobody could because we were too busy laughing.
"He forgot to pull the cord to inflate his life jacket, so he is trying to swim in his boots and we were just howling with laughter at him.
"That’s one of the things that sets our programme apart from a lot of the others that you see."
MOTOR MAYHEM
Jeremy continued: "When anyone else has an accident, there is a lot of ‘oh are you alright, let me help you up, let’s stop filming’.
"We just burst out laughing when somebody has been hurt or makes a fool of themselves.
"I very much enjoyed bumping into other cars, you get a bit of a sore neck, I did actually.
"It’s our job to entertain people, not to sit at home and go ‘oh i might hurt myself’ that’s not really our attitude.
"We do our own driving and own stunts."

Meanwhile, Richard shared what was going through his head when he fell off his boat.
He revealed: "There wasn’t time to go through my mind, my mind isn’t the quickest device at the best of times.
"Essentially I was pulling a big platform with Jeremy on it on a little tiny fishing boat and I tied the rope to one side and long story short I gave it a little bit of a throttle and it started to rock.
"Jeremy was like ‘pull it harder’ and I gave it all the throttle and it flipped and sank and it sank.
"You can see it on camera in real time, this was very much not expected.

"If it had been a stunt it would have been two days work and stunt coordinators and it never would have been as good. It sinks in about 10 seconds."
