Virgin River boss reveals true meaning of season 3 finale twist – and what’s to come in season 4
VIRGIN River's boss has cleared the air a little bit on the massive twist at the end of season three.
Series three of the Netflix series ended on a cliffhanger when Melinda Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge) revealed she's pregnant - but does not know who the father is.
Her baby daddy could be her late husband Mark (Daniel Gillies) or new beau Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) who had just proposed to her.
Virgin River's showrunner Sue Tenney promised viewers would definitely find out the paternity of Mel's baby in the upcoming season.
"You'll find out by the end of the fourth season," Tenney told .
Tenney also opened up about the fate of some of the other major characters.
The finale showed Charmaine (Lauren Hammersley) trying to get full custody of the twins from Jack.
Tenney hinted fans should expect a lot of courtroom action in the show's fourth season.
"I have sympathy for Charmaine," Tenney explained.
"I don't condone her actions. They're a little squirrelly. But she's not evil. She's just hurt.
"Everything that Charmaine does is out of hurt. She's always working from a place of hurt."
Jack will have a fight on his hands to keep his twins and Brie (Zibby Allen) will have a big part in this storyline too.
"We will utilise the fact that Brie is an attorney in the show going forward," Tenney said.
In series three, viewers saw Jack propose to Mel just weeks after they had broken up.
But while Mel split with Jack, she headed to the fertility clinic where they kept her and her late husband Mark's embryos, meaning either of the men could be the father of her baby.
Actress Alexandra Breckenridge who plays Mel, recently opened up on whether she thinks her character will accept Jack's proposal.
"My initial response would be that she would say yes," she , before suggesting the character may hesitate before replying, "I mean, he did just break up with her a couple weeks ago!"
