PIERS Morgan has revealed Cristiano Ronaldo texted him after Portugal's Euros win - after his fan mocked their friendship.

The ex-Good Morning Britain presenter, 56, formed an unexpected friendship with 36-year-old Ronaldo after interviewing him in 2019.

The world-renowned footballer became the Euros highest scorer EVER with a late double against Hungary.

Congratulating him on Instagram by sharing a snap of them together, Piers said: "What. A. Footballer. 36 years old and lighting up the Euros. Incredible. Proud of you, my friend @cristiano."

Underneath the picture, a fan made fun of Piers saying: "Like he’d class you as one of his friends."

Replying to him directly, Piers said: "He just messaged me from the dressing room, FYI."

The 56-year-old has previously opened up about his blossoming friendship with the star while on GMB.

But his co-host at the time, Susanna Reid, claimed Ronaldo had "ghosted" Piers when he bragged about their awkward text exchange.

Bragging about their close bond, Piers said: "I got promoted last night, he always calls me a few things when we chat.

"I just sent him a little message saying 'big night legend. Take them down.' I got three thumbs up back.

"I said 'is that one for each goal?... no reply.

"He scored two, nearly got a third. I just said 'you destroyed them'. He replied: 'Thanks bro.'

"I'm now Cristiano Ronaldo's bro."

Rolling her eyes, unimpressed Susanna said: "Really deep conversation."

It left Richard Arnold in hysterics, as Piers sniped: "It's a better conversation than the stuff I have to have with you."

"He's practically ghosting you. I hate to say it. If I got that from someone I was close to, I'd be reconsidering."

Piers has long maintained Ronaldo is the best footballer of all time, and has a soft spot for him after the footy ace complimented his physique in an interview they had together.
