Stars at Bafta TV awards will be able to appear as a hologram
STARS at next month’s Bafta TV awards will be able to appear as a hologram.
Nominees who cannot make the ceremony on June 6 can get beamed in virtually instead — along with the fans.
The event will be socially distanced this year because of Covid restrictions and organisers are using 3D technology to ensure absentees can still make it.
Jodie Comer, nominated for Best Actress for Killing Eve, could be among the projected celebrities at the event, which will be broadcast on BBC One.
Diversity’s Black Lives Matter-inspired routine on Britain’s Got Talent is in the running to be voted the best TV moment, along with Penelope being revealed as Lady Whistledown in Bridgerton.
Best Entertainment Programme will be contested by Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, The Masked Singer, Strictly and Life and Rhymes.
Fans will not be able to line the red carpet but they can come as holograms too — as well as interview their favourite celebs.
They can sign up online for the chance to ask a question, and choose from a selection of digital red carpet outfits.
Their hologram will be introduced to their star of choice by red carpet presenters Vick Hope and Stacey Dooley.
The ceremony will be hosted again by Richard Ayoade.
