Miranda Hart sends Call the Midwife fans wild with on-set snap as Chummy

MIRANDA Hart sent call the midwife fans wild with her on-set snap as Chummy. 

The 48-year-old posted a series of pictures with her Call the Midwife co-stars to her 726k Instagram followers over the weekend.

Miranda played the well-loved character Camilla Noakes, also known as Chummy from 2012 to 2015.

While many fans will have hoped the pictures meant Miranda was back on the show, sadly for them they were throwback pictures which she captioned: “Happy 10 years @callthemidwife.official Oh boy I had fun. 

The show's creator Heidi Thomas wrote: "two words for you - THANK YOU. 🧡🧡🧡”

The series of three pictures featured Miranda with her cast mates; Dr Patrick Turner played by Stephen McGann, Ben Caplan as Peter Noakes - her on screen husband - and Patience Mount played by Emerald Fennell.

The throwback snaps were posted to celebrate 10 years of the iconic series, which follows midwives in 1950’s East London based on the memoirs of Jennifer Worth.

Miranda thanked Heidi Thomas, who first wrote and co-produced Call the Midwife in 2011.

Screenwriter and show runner, Heidi previously told the of Miranda's character: "I still hope that one day we will come back to Chummy."

The popular BBC series celebrates its 10 year anniversary of its first episode which aired on January 15 2012.

The series has racked up fans all over the world as the series gets millions of views, a lot of which have called for Chummy's return ever since she left in 2015.

The plot follows newly qualified midwife Jenny Lee, as well as the nuns of Nonnatus House, as they care for new mothers and newborns in severely deprived Poplar. 

The Sisters and midwives aim to make childbirth safe as they battle medical developments such as cystic fibrosis, caring for the terminally ill and midwifery in prison.

As well as the devastating impact of thalidomide and the revolutionary introduction of the contraceptive pill.

One-off BBC Special 'Call the Midwife: Special Delivery' went in depth into some of shows biggest episodes.

The show has been commissioned through to an eleventh series in 2022, taking the plot into the late-sixties.

Call the Midwife is expected to be on screens until 2024 at least so fans have a lot to look forward to in series 12 and 13.

Call the Midwife airs on BBC One at 8pm.
