Jeremy Clarkson admits he ‘drank himself silly’ and is the ‘unfittest he’s ever been’ after lockdown on farm

JEREMY Clarkson has admitted he 'drank himself silly' and is the 'unfittest he's ever been' after lockdown on his farm.

The 61-year-old has spent his time during the coronavirus pandemic on his 1,000 acre farm filming his new Amazon Prime Video series, Clarkson's Farm.

The series follows Jeremy as he tries to get to grips with farming life, and sees him buying tractors and sheep, failing miserably at planting seeds in a straight line and enjoying a number of Ploughman's lunches in his fields.

While farming looks like labour intensive job, Jeremy admitted to The Sun Online it hasn't made him any fitter.

When asked if he had toned up since becoming a farmer or if his love of a Ploughman's had been his downfall, he said: "It’s not the Ploughman’s lunches it’s the phenomenal amount of drinking when you’re locked down."

Jeremy is helped on the farm by a young local farmer named Caleb and his girlfriend Lisa Hogan.

He continued: "[Caleb] doesn’t drink really so I have to take up his slack. 12 months, Lisa and I have drank ourselves silly.

"When you’re farming one of the joys is the sun going down and leaning on a fence and looking at your sheep or your crops or watch the changing of the seasons.

"So has it made me fitter? No. And the other thing about farming is how automated it is, you never have to actually walk anywhere, you just drive everywhere it’s fantastic.

"I’m the unfittest I’ve ever been."

Jeremy has owned the farm since 2008 but only took over running it himself in 2019.

Admitting he has "no idea" why he decided to take on such a challenge despite having no farming experience, Jeremy said: "I thought ‘I can do that’.

"I genuinely thought you put seeds in the ground, weather happens and food grows. So I thought ‘that’s not difficult’, it’s phenomenally difficult."

Clarkson's Farm will launch Friday June 11 on Amazon Prime Video.
